Background and Research Interests
Paulette conducted her doctoral research under the auspices of the Laboratory of Southeastern Archaeology while at the University of Florida. Her geoarchaeological research focused on reconstructing a chronology of sea-level rise and coastal evolution in Horseshoe Cove on the northern Gulf Coast of Florida as a means to investigate the effect of environmental change on human-landscape relationships at associated archaeological sites.
Current Research
After a one-year appointment as a postdoctoral associate with the Florida Museum of Natural History, Paulette joined the Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research. Through 2024 she was the Law Enforcement Coordinator, working with state and local law enforcement to train officers in archaeological resource protection and assist in prosecution of cultural resources crimes. The research portion of her position allowed her to continue her geoarchaeological research focusing on human-environment interactions on the Florida Gulf Coast.
