M.A., Anthropology, Univ. of Florida, 2011
B.A., Anthropology, Univ. of South Carolina, 2007

Background and Research Interests

Before joining the Laboratory of Southeastern Archaeology in 2011, Andrea completed her M.A. with a study of zooarchaeological materials from the Pineland Site Complex in southwest Florida. She examined variations in taxa frequencies to make inferences about local climatic variations and habitat exploitation between A.D. 1 and 650.

Current Research Projects

For her Ph.D. research, Andrea has joined the Lower Suwannee Archaeological Survey. She is analyzing zooarchaeological materials from multiple sites in the region to explore seasonality and mobility patterns among Late Archaic and Woodland period occupants, emphasizing more locally relevant ways to consider seasons, supra-annual resource patterning, and resource transportation within the region.
